Members’ Ladder Rules

    1. You can issue only 1 challenge at a time.
    2. You can only be challenged by one player at any given time. This prevents outstanding challenges from accumulating against you.
    3. You may challenge up 4 “available” spots and down 3 “available” spots.
    4. Please enter the score of your match as soon as possible after the conclusion of the match so that you and your partner will become available for future challenges.
    5. If the challenge is successful, you will take the spot of the person you challenge, and the person you challenge will take your spot.
    6. You must wait 3 days before re-challenging the same player.
    7. All ladder matches are a pro set: the winner is the first to 8 games with a regular tie break at 7-7.
    8. If challenged, you will have 3 days to “Accept” or “Deny” the challenge or the challenge will be considered a “forfeit” and the challenger will be granted the win.
    9. Please arrange a match date and time via email or telephone as soon as possible after issuing/accepting a challenge.
    10. By accepting a challenge, you agree to play the challenge within 3 days after the date of acceptance.
    11. If you cannot play within 3 days, simply “Deny” the challenge and the challenger will be rewarded the win and can move on.
    12. If a challenge is accepted and not played within 3 days, it will expire and the challenge will be deleted from the system and will have to be re-issued. Of course, since rankings continually change, a re-challenge may not be possible.
    13. If you are unable to play for a period of time (injured, vacation, business trip), please log on to your account and click on “Temporarily Leave Ladder”.  This will prevent other members from issuing challenges to you while you are away.  Be sure re-join the active ladder by logging on and clicking “Come Back” when you are ready to resume play.
    14. All ladder matches must follow the same booking procedures as other MTC members at all times.  Courts can only be reserved in advance at times that allow such a booking.  All other courts are on a first come first serve basis.  The allotted time for courts is also the same (one hour) as for other non-ladder members.
    15. If you are active on the ladder but have no playing activity: after 21 days you will be dropped 5 spots, after 42 days you will be dropped 5 more spots and after 63 days you will be dropped from the ladder.
    16. Your original placement on the ladder was determined in a random fashion as each participant was assigned a rank of advanced, intermediate or low intermediate.  After being assigned your level you were drawn in a random fashion with other players of your like level.
    17. Please note that we will still accept new members into the ladder after the start so your ranking could change depending on the new member’s assigned level.  Any new member will be placed randomly from the middle to the bottom of the members already on the ladder of similar level.  We do the best we can with assigning each person a level.  That is all we can do.  If you believe you should be higher, no worries because then you should be able to work your way up!!!!!
    18. Your ladder admin is Jonathan Adamson and can be emailed at info@marchtennisclub.com if you have any questions.
